Milestone: Garry

Milestone: Garry was released on 27 February 2021. Significant changes are as follows:

Directory self-view
An additional column has been added to the Admin > Roles pane for Directory: Self-View. A volunteer whose role(s) grant them this permission can access their own Directory page, even if they don’t have Directory access normally. This is useful if you want to allow some volunteers to see and update their own personal details while only being allowed to see a subset (or none!) of the other volunteers: e.g. for trainees or applicants at your organisation.

Shift Reminders
We introduced shift reminders by text or email as an experimental feature in Milestone: Frome last year. This feature is now available to all organisations but this remains an early implementation and we hope to improve it further in the future. Please provide feedback if you use it at your organisation.

Text Message opt-out
It is now possible for volunteers to opt-out of receiving text messages via Three Rings via the Comms notification options (renamed) on their My Account page.

Filestore: Downloading Directories
You can now download entire folders at once (including their subfolders and files, subject to your permissions on those folders) as a ZIP file.

Stats > Most Recent Shifts: Role selection
We’ve added Role selection to the Stats > Most Recent Shifts report. This allows you to review, for example, the most recent shifts by new volunteers.

Stats > Volunteer Inactivity: Layout/Format Improvements
We’ve made changes to how the information is laid out on this report and updated the available export formats.

Directory: Downloads Logged
By popular request, we’re now logging to your Admin > Logs panel when a volunteer downloads the entire Directory as a CSV or Excel file.

Admin > Properties: performance improved
Improvements to the efficiency of the Admin > Properties panel mean that re-ordering properties should now be faster than previously.

Accessibility improvements to aid with the use of Screen Readers
In consultation with web accessibility professionals and screen reader users, we’ve made a number of improvements throughout Three Rings, e.g. the Buttons around the Recipient Fields in Comms explain themselves better when using accessibility tools.

Additional Properties
By popular request, we’ve added additional Properties to support recording vaccination status and related information.

Log archiving
To improve performance throughout the system, we’ve changed our policy on retention of logs in the Admin > Logs panel. Previously we made your entire organisation’s logs available directly through this panel: now we archive logs after they become >3 years old. We still retain these old logs in offline storage and backups and can refer to them if necessary, but you’ll need to contact our support team if you want us to do this.

New Three Rings Website
We’ve also revamped our public facing website, which lives at www.threerings.org.uk.
